In the efforts to drive and promote the holistic development of our female athletes, we have made a partnership and will be bringing on to our staff Powell Cucchiella from Positively Elite to provide a mental performance curriculum that will help our older girls both on and off the field. Powell will be meeting with our older teams over the course of the 2022-23 season to not only help our athletes perform more consistently and confidently on the field; but also to help them develop the insight and skills to manage and train their mental health and performance in their relationships, school, and in life. Powell was a standout soccer player from Baltimore, MD who earned County Player of the Year and All State accolades on the field during his high school career. He played 4 years of Division 1 soccer at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). After college, Powell went on to play for the top premier Baltimore amateur soccer teams, winning several state and national outdoor and indoor championships. He still enjoys playing soccer today, and you can often find him competing in the Afrims adult leagues! He currently holds a US Soccer D Coaching License in addition to his playing experience.
Professionally, Powell graduated top of class from The Sage Colleges in 2015 with a M.A. in Counseling and Community Psychology, receiving his Licensure to be a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). After graduate school, Powell has worked as a counselor at the Albany Academies private school in Albany, NY and taught as an adjunct professor in the Psychology department at the Sage colleges. In 2018, Powell created Positively Elite, a mental performance company and counseling practice focused on helping individuals and teams understand, manage, and train the mind so they can more consistently and confidently perform at their peak potential. He currently works with several high school, college, and club teams across New York and Maryland in a variety of sports.
