June 28, 2011 - Sacramento, California - Irish International Diane Caldwell of the Albany Alleycats was named to the National WPSL team of the week.  This team is comprised of players that have made a difference from the 60+ teams that make up the WPSL nationwide.  Caldwell earned this honor as she has helped hold down the defense and stymie opposing team attacks.  On Saturday night she helped put the team in playoff contention as she put a perfect serve into the box in the 88th minute.  Teammate Collee Landes put the service into the back of the net.

 June 25,2011 - Albany, NY - The Albany Alleycats seem to have hit their stride.  After knocking off the divisional leader, Boston Aztec U23's, they beat Seacoast United 2-1.  The Alleycats lost by the same score two weeks earlier.

After dominating play for a large chunk of the first half the Alleycats could not get on the end of some fantastic opportunities.  At the half the score was 0-0.  Eight minutes into the second half Seacoast got on the scoreboard.  On a quick counter attack from midfield, Gabrielle Ransom put a perfect ball in to Karla Johnstone who was able to finish a 1v1 with Albany's keeper Megan Sleezer.

Then in the 77th minute Shayla Bergeron beat her mark on the left flank and sent a beautiful bending ball to the back post.  The Seacoast Keeper, Jessica Sanderson was able to punch it but Marin McDermont got her head on that and sent it into the net for the Host Alleycats.

With time winding down and the visiting Phantoms looking to get out of Albany with a tie Collee Landes had other ideas of how the night should end.  In the 88th minute after Shayla Bergeron drew a foul near the top of the 18 as her jersey was pulled going into the box.  Irish Interenational Diane Caldwell stepped up and sent a whistler into the box as the ball was misleared, Collee pounced on it and ripped it into the back of the net for the game winner.  With the win, the Alleycats are now in playoff contention.  On Wednesday June 29th they travel to Yale University to take on the CFC Passion.  Then return home after the July 4th break to take on Tony Dicicco's Club SoccerPlus on July 9th.  The July 9th game will be a double header with the Alleycats U20 team.  The U20's will play at 4pm and the WPSL game will start at 7pm. 

 June 19, 2011 - Albany, NY - The Albany Alleycats felt what it was like to win in a big way.  The Alleycats (0-4-1) going into the game beat the divisional leading Boston Aztecs U23 (4-0-1) 2-1 at Afrim's Sports Dome in Latham.  In the 12th minute Clare Pleuler put the visitors on top 1-0.  The score remained that way through the half.  

In the 58th minute the Alleycats evened the score when Megan Rozumalski collected a ball and sent it into the box where Caitlan Cahalan pounced on it and sent it into the back of the net.

The game winner came  when Rachel Sushner blasted a shot from 30 yards out the deflection came to Shayle Bergeron where she poked it in from 6 yards out. 

June 12, 2011 - The Alleycats continued to struggle in finding success in another weekend of back to back games.  The WPSL team lost 4-0 to the Aztec U23 team on Saturday night and lost 2-1 to Seacoast United.  Having created opportunities in the first half, none got put away  by the Alleycats and this opened the door for the host Aztecs.  In the first half the Aztecs scored in the 24th and 39th minute.  In the second half the Aztecs scored two goals in the first 10 minutes.  This turned out to be too much for the Alleycats.

In the second match of the weekend the Alleycats lost 2-1 to the NH Seaoast Phantoms.  It was a very evenly played match until Seacoast headed in a ball in stoppage time of the first half.  With time winding down, Seacoast took a thrown in that got chipped to the front of the goal where an alert seacoast player headed it in.  In the second half the Alleycats started stringing passes together and put lots of pressure on the opposing defense.  Then in the 70th minute a controversial Alleycat goal got called back due to offsides.  Rachel Sushner had got down the right flank and served a ball into the goal mouth where Kelsey Yam headed a ball into the upper 90.  It was unfortunately called back.  Eight minutes later the Phantoms earned a corner kick that was misplayed by the Alleycat keeper and ended up in the back of the goal.  That play ignited the Alleycats as they scored 5 minutes later.  Lauren Mackey served a ball into the box from the left flank and Marin McDermott got on the other end of it to make it a game!  This added some excitement to the game as it was back and forth for the next 20 minutes.  Unfortunately the Alleycats could not get the equalizer and ended in a 2-1 game.

The Alleycats will have a rematch with the Aztec U23's this Sunday at 2pm at Afrim's Sports Dome.

June 5, 2011 - The Albany Alleycats appear to be coming together.  In a home and away with one of the perennial top teams in the league, the Alleycats lost on the road and drew at home.  On Saturday the alleycats went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the Northeast.  The match was played in front of almost 400 fans at Agawam High School, Agawam MA.  The Alleycats gave up a Penalty Kick in the 40th minute.  As the teams broke at 1/2 time the score was 1-0, New England.  The score stayed this way until the 83 minute when the Mutiny added an assurance goal.

     In the second match of the weeekend, the Mutiny traveled to Afrim’s Sports Dome to round out the double header.  The result was a 2-2 tie.  On Sunday it took until the 77th minute to put a goal in the net by the mutiny, then less than 1 minute later the Mutiny put another one in the back of the net.  The Alleycats would not lie down though in the final 15 minutes.  Off a Megan Rozumalski Serve from the left flank, Jackie Frey (Marist) tapped one into the goal.  Then off a corner kick taken by Rozumalski, Caitlan Cahalan (Shaker) headed in a goal with in extra time.  With the tie, the Alleyats gets their first points on the board.

Albany, NY - The Albany Alleycats in thier first year as a WPSL team found out real quick about the level of play that goes on just below the Pro-league.  The Women’s Premeir Soccer League is an ametuer league allowing high school/college/beyond college players to ttrain and play together.  The Alleycats in their home opener faced the Boston Breakers Reserve Team where 6 Breakers suited up for the match.  The Reserves were the 2010 WPSL National Champions and are looking to repeat again this year.  The final score was 4-0.  Although 0-0 with 7 minutes left in the first half.  The Aztecs put on some pressure and scored 2 quick goals right before the half making it 2-0.  In the second half the Reserves got thier third and fourth goals of the night.  The Boston Breakers that played in the match were all involved with either  assist or scoring a goal.

The Albany Alleycats Soccer Club is looking for families interested in becoming a host family for one or more female Semi-Pro players for the 2011 season.  This year the Alleycats are supporting a team that will be playing in the Women’s Premier Soccer League, one of the top 5 women’s leagues in the world!  The WPSL is a 60+ team national league that will be playing in 5 different conferences  across the United States.  The team will be playing its 5 home matches at Afrim’s Dome in Latham.

Albany, NY (3/25/11) – Excitement is building in Albany!  Many believe it is due to the 2011 Women’s Soccer World Cup in Germany being less than 100 days away. However, the reality is the Albany Alleycats Premier Soccer Club has announced it will be bringing a minor league women’s soccer franchise to the area.  The team will join the Eastern division of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), a national amateur league that serves a vital role in supporting the WPS professional league as it provides a feeder system for the best collegiate, international and semi-professional female soccer players in the world.

Albany, NY May 11,  2010  - The Albany Alleycats and  the Adirondack Lynx Elite Female Soccer Academy  are  pleased  to  announce a partnership with the  two  organizations.  The Adirondack Lynx  have become part of  the Alley cat organization.  In doing so, the coaching/administrative staff of the Adirondack Lynx will take over the training/administration of the U16-U17-U18 Alleycats Soccer teams.  The Alleycats will sponsor the addition of a U20 team to their club for this summer with the ultimate goal of supporting the return of Adirondack Lynx WPSL team in 2011.  This would create the only girls side in the area with teams playing at every age group from U8 to the amateur level.

Albany Alleycats, in conjunction with the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), released today the 2011 WPSL regular season schedule.

From 2005-2009 the Adirondack Lynx successfully competed in the WPSL, one of the top women’s leagues in the world.

This year the team was renamed the Albany Alleycats as Adirondack merged with one of the top soccer girls programs in region 1.

The Alleycats will play their home matches at Afrims Sports Dome in Latham, NY.
